Committees of the
Board
The theatre accomplishes its mission mainly
with volunteers. House Manager, STAMP mentors,
STAMP Program Manager and Executive Director
are paid positions.
Committees for 2008 will perform
these main functions.
1. Outreach - Manage and oversee all outreach
programs including interface with STAMP
Advisory Board and Program Partners
2. Fundraising and galas -Manage and oversee
opening night galas, “Friends of the
Black Box” program, and any other
annual fundraisers
3. Facility - Manage the facility and solve
problems related to the facility
4. Financial, Budgeting and grants - Manage
and oversee all aspects of finance including
grants
5. Programming - Manage and oversee programming
in the Black Box Theatre and offsite. Policy
development and recommendation to the Executive
Director of show selection.
6. Volunteer recruitment – Recruit
volunteers for all aspects of theatre work.
7. Nominating committee –Develop and
recruit candidates for the Board
8. Executive Committee – Chairman,
President, Vice Pres, 2nd VP, Treasurer,
Secretary, and Executive Director
Roles of Arts Center
volunteer and paid staff and consultants
Executive Director, Peggy Palmer, (paid
part-time staff), is a liaison between the
Board and Committees. The Executive Director
oversees and acts as a resource for all
committees. She also has hiring authority
within budget guidelines. She is appointed
by the Board and serves an indefinite term.
STAMP Program Manager,
Bill Barton is "acting" Program
manager, but we seek a permanent program
manager. Reports to the Outreach Committee
and is developing opportunities and programs
that fulfill the need for community and
educational programs. May manage or hire
others to manage the individual outreach
programs, as well as help write the grants
and manage the budgets for the outreach
programs. Is the point of contact for the
Charles County School system. Coordinates
field trips. Receive an hourly wage.
STAMP Mentors –
report to Program Manager and receive a
weekly part-time hourly wage. WE are currently
seeking STAMP Mentors
Website Management is
done by Roseanne Windley, of MsComputerwiz.com.
She is responsible for updating the web
site producing the e-news.
Facilities Manager, Mike
Leggett, is a volunteer. He works cooperatively
with other program coordinators and directors,
including the House Manager, Technical Manager,
Outreach and Education, Performers, Fundraisers,
and all who use the space, to maintain the
space in a state of readiness for all programs.
He works with the Facilities committee.
Technical Manager, Jodie
Mueller is a volunteer and works with Mike
Leggett on technical aspects of basic theatre
lighting and other systems. Each performing
group must have their own Technical personnel.
House Manager, Stephanie
Henry, is a paid part-time staff person
and is responsible for making sure we have
house attendants (concession and door) at
all functions. He/She is responsible for
each show’s box office reconciliation
reports and for making sure the money is
deposited immediately after a show. See

Grants Coordinator, is
a volunteer, but can work to paid eventually.
Responsible for researching grants, liaison
with Outreach Coordinator, Program Managers,
and others in the organization ton to find
and apply for grants. This person reports
to the Grants Committee. Finds, writes and
manages grants.
